Cold Fire vs Fireworks

Two very different ways to put sparks in a wedding — what each one actually does, and which belongs at a banquet stage.

Couples often use "fireworks" and "cold fire" interchangeably when they call us. They are not the same thing, and the difference decides what your venue will and will not agree to. This guide compares the two honestly — including where cold fire is genuinely better and where it is simply the only practical option. Our Cold Fire Spark Effects start at ₹6,500 per setup.

What cold fire actually is

A cold fire unit is a machine that throws a controlled fountain of sparks to a set height for a set number of seconds, triggered by a technician on a cue. The spark output is engineered for close-range stage use, the duration is short, and the machine is positioned, tested and operated by our crew rather than lit and left.

  • Machine-driven, operator-triggered, timed to a music or anchor cue
  • Minimal smoke compared with combustion fireworks
  • Height and duration set during setup, not improvised on the night
  • Used in a defined stage or aisle footprint agreed with the venue

What traditional fireworks are

Fireworks are combustion pyrotechnics intended for open outdoor use. They carry noise, smoke, fallout and a much larger exclusion area, and they sit under a separate set of permissions and local rules. They are a different trade to indoor stage effects, and they are not part of our service list — we stage controlled event effects, not outdoor firework displays.

Side by side

  • Indoor use — cold fire is built for controlled stage use; fireworks are outdoor-only
  • Noise — cold fire is quiet enough to sit under a music cue; fireworks dominate the soundtrack
  • Smoke — cold fire produces very little; fireworks can haze an entire hall or lawn
  • Precision — cold fire hits an exact beat; fireworks work on a broader timeline
  • Cleanup — cold fire leaves a contained footprint; fireworks leave debris across the area
  • Guest proximity — cold fire is planned around a guest-safe working distance on stage

Which one photographs better

For an entry, cold fire wins on camera almost every time. The sparks sit in the same frame as the couple, so your photographer gets faces and effect together. Fireworks are a wide shot — beautiful, but the couple becomes a silhouette. If the clip you want is the couple's expression as the sparks rise, cold fire is the answer.

Venue reality in Bangalore

Most city banquet halls, hotels and convention centres are indoor or covered spaces where an outdoor firework display is simply not an option. Even with cold fire, every effect is subject to venue approval and applicable event requirements, and we share the setup plan with your banquet team in advance. Our stage effects safety guide lists what venues typically ask for.

Cost and what is included

  • Cold Fire Spark Effects — from ₹6,500 per setup, including crew, operation and cue timing
  • Fire towers for larger open stages — from ₹12,999 per setup
  • Walking on Clouds dry ice — from ₹10,000, a common pairing with sparks
  • Full entry packages — from ₹14,999 (Essential) to ₹79,999 (Luxury), plus custom

So which should you book?

If your moment happens on a stage, in a hall, or anywhere guests are close by, cold fire is the practical and better-looking choice. If you have a large open outdoor property and specifically want a sky display, that is a separate specialist booking outside what we do. For everything inside the venue, start with our entry packages or the full price list.

FAQs

What is the difference between cold fire and fireworks?+

Cold fire units produce a controlled spark fountain from a machine operated by a technician, with a defined height and duration. Traditional fireworks are combustion-based outdoor pyrotechnics with smoke, noise and debris, and they are governed by separate permissions.

Can cold fire be used inside a banquet hall?+

Cold fire is designed for controlled stage use and is widely used indoors, but it always remains subject to venue approval and applicable event requirements. We confirm the setup with your venue team before the date.

What does cold fire cost compared with an outdoor fireworks display?+

Our Cold Fire Spark Effects start at ₹6,500 per setup, which includes machines, crew, operation and cue timing. Outdoor fireworks are a separate category of work with different permissions and costs, and are not part of our service list.

Which one looks better on camera?+

For an entry moment inside a hall, cold fire is far easier to film — the sparks sit close to the couple, the exposure is manageable and there is no smoke haze between the camera and the subject.
